Voices of the World
Breaking down barriers to bring children around the world together through the Performing Arts and Gestures.
Welcome to VOTW
Voices of the World (VOTW) is a unique, collaborative, award winning intercultural project that brings learners from around the world together through the use of music, art, dance and Makaton signing, to preserve their linguistic identities and to develop an understanding, awareness and appreciation of other languages and cultures. The project aims to develop young people's intercultural sensitivity to enable them to live, work and learn with their global peers. The project was created by Sharon Tonner-Saunders, a lecturer in education at the University of Dundee. Sharon has extensive knowledge and experience of intercuutral learning and how to successfully embed this into educational settings.
VOTW involves learners of all ages: pre-school/ kindergarten, primary and secondary/ high school pupils as well as university student teachers. The project runs from August to May each academic year, with a range of intercultural activities that schools can engage in alone or with another school. If you school would like to take part, please contact Sharon to find out more.
